Meet Dr. Powell O.D.

Dr. Wong-Powell developed a lifelong passion for vision and eye health after growing up immersed in the eye care industry. She received a merit-based invitation to attend the University of Houston College of Optometry and was selected for Ocular Disease residency training at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During her residency, she collaborated closely with ophthalmologists within an integrated care model focused on maximizing patient outcomes, advancing eye health, and preventing avoidable blindness.

Dr. Wong-Powell is board-certified in Medical Optometry by the American Board of Medical Optometry (ABCMO). For more than 14 years, she has made significant academic contributions through teaching didactic coursework, providing continuing education, training residents, and leading international medical mission trips. In recognition of this work, she received the University of the Incarnate Word’s Faculty Service-Learning Award in 2023. She was also designated a Fulbright Program Specialist by the U.S. Department of State and served as invited faculty at Universidad del Área Andina in Colombia.

In 2025, Dr. Wong-Powell became the 22nd Diplomate in Comprehensive Eye Care of the American Academy of Optometry nationwide and was accepted into the Optometric Glaucoma Society. Naturally bilingual in Spanish, she has been featured by Univision to provide public education on eye health.

Dr. Wong-Powell is the proud parent of three children and the devoted owner of five dogs.
